Shamanic Counseling Shamanic counseling is combining modern techniques available to traditional psychotherapists and adding the vital ancient shamanic heritage of indigenous cultures. In relying on both systems, deeper holistic insights are gathered for healing. Shamanic methods of rapid drumming facilitate the journey or travel to alternate states of consciousness at will when the brain waves change from beta to theta. The journey process is easily accessible to any student. By working in sacred space, calling in the directions and smudging, Shiela's guides are available to assist her. Each direction, East, South, West, and North has corresponding power animals. Smudging clears the environment and the person of any unwanted energy and sets the stage for spiritual rejuvenation and healing. Sage or a combination of cedar and sage is burned to create the smudge. The smoke of the burning smudge is directed around the room and over the occupants. Smudging can also be symbolic if the smoke is bothersome. In sessions, clients frequently journey to non-ordinary reality to access their own guides who then become available as part of the healing process. The easy experience of journeying and the readily available guides or power animals allow the client to be empowered in their healing. These allies are found in the non-ordinary reality of the Shamanic Journey. Once the sacred space has been set the session evolves depending on the issues we have joined together to address. Because healing allies have been located, and because the client has access to their guides at any time, the transformative work is not limited to session times. Once begun, it can continue as the client has time and energy to journey with regular check-ins to facilitate further growth and change. It is Shiela's belief that the healing we do affects not only ourselves but our ancestors and the seven (7) generations that come after us. It is with great honor and respect that she brings this work forward for your healing. For more information or to make an appointment, contact Shiela at (206) 903-9404 or by email.
